The Center for Psychotherapy Research consists of researchers from the Psychology Research Institute and the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University, Brno. It is dedicated to the implementation of research projects, as well as connecting the world of research and practice in the field of psychotherapy and counselling.

We participate in the DigiWELL project

The Centre for Psychotherapy Research is involved in the Research of Excellence on Digital Technologies and Wellbeing project. The principle investigator of the project is the University of Ostrava and a total of eight institutions are involved in the project. Our aim is to investigate, for instance, client preferences in psychotherapy, trajectories of therapeutic change or the interaction of different change mechanisms during the therapeutic process - particularly in the context of the DeePsy application.

Our PhD students were awarded

The Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies awarded prizes for excellence in doctoral studies at MUNI to two of our doctoral students: Adam Klocek and Martina Klocková. Adam's dissertation included an extensive review study focusing on the possibilities and limits of the nonlinear dynamic systems paradigm in psychotherapy research. Martina investigated the effectiveness of psychotherapy in patients with medically unexplained physical symptoms. Congratulations to both awardees!

Jewel of Czech Psychotherapy

In 2019, the Centre for Psychotherapy Research received an award entitled "Jewel of Czech Psychotherapy" from the Czech Association for Psychotherapy. We very much appreciate this award and will continue to strive to achieve our goals, which include interconnecting psychotherapy research and practice.
