We host the Society for Psychotherapy Research (EU and UK chapters) conference

The Centre for Psychotherapy Research is involved in the organisation of the Society for Psychotherapy Research (EU & UK chapters) meeting that will be held at the Faculty of Social Studies of the Masaryk University in Brno in 2024. As usual, this conference will host researchers not only from Europe but also from overseas. Submission portal will be open until the end of April, 2024.

Risks and Side-Effects in Systemic Family Therapy

Together with our colleague Matthias Ochs, we published a chapter on the risks and side effects of systemic therapy. The chapter includes a qualitative study based on the Master's thesis of Jakub Caha, M.A., who investigated how systemic therapists themselves reflect on these phenomena. The results show how challenging it can be for psychotherapists to reflect on the potential threats and risks of their work with clients.

We presented at the conference New Horizons of Qualitative Research

We presented the findings of our recent qualitative meta-analysis at the New Horizons of Qualitative Research conference. We examined how psychotherapists in approximately 50 qualitative studies perceived routine process and outcome monitoring in psychotherapy. The findings are encouraging - routine monitoring has the potential to provide important cues in many areas, such as client improvement and deterioration during therapy, clients' satisfaction with the therapeutic process, and clients' preferences about how the treatment should proceed.

Another run of our Deliberative Practice course has taken place

In January, the second run of the Deliberative Practice in Psychotherapy course was held, taught by Dr. Petr Doležal and Dr. Jan Nehyba. The course is based on current knowledge about the development of expertise in psychotherapists. Furthermore, the course is closely connecte with the DeePsy application that serves as a tool for routine outcome monitoring and feedback. We plan to provide the course in the following year as well.
